Short story for VFX
For Module 3 at Escape Studios, the brief was to create a short story that could showcase VFX within unreal. The assets used within this scene are taken from Megascans, Epic Marketplace, and Sketchfab. All VFX are created by myself.
The environment was set up by myself, so this was also a challenge in level design as I was using assets that I had to locate online. The concept for this was an abandoned/forgotten graveyard where spirits travel to so that they can offer their soul.
This project really challenged my knowledge and skills to set up an interesting narrative, whilst creating exciting VFX. Using advanced materials to create the dissolving effect on the wings, and on the pentagram at the start tested my knowledge of the nodes within material creation. Niagara was a new part of unreal for me and it was really interesting to find out what could be done within this. Especially the scratch module aspect.
We were also assessed on our technical art, so I used a multitude of blueprints and graphs to create the environment itself. This included blueprints to generate random rocks rotations, spline to easily create a river that I could fit the landscape, PCG to create the forest itself.
If you have the time to review and leave any feedback I would be very grateful! Thank you.
